The Most Important Warning — Ulwe Exit

This is the tip that most online guides completely miss — and getting it wrong costs you 20-30 minutes.

When the bridge ends on the Navi Mumbai side, you will see a sign for “Ulwe Exit.”

IF YOU ARE GOING TO:
→ Ulwe specifically → Take this exit

IF YOU ARE GOING TO:
→ Panvel
→ Kharghar
→ Vashi
→ Belapur
→ Mumbai-Pune Expressway
→ Anywhere else in Navi Mumbai
→ NMIA Airport

DO NOT TAKE THE ULWE EXIT.

If you take the Ulwe exit by mistake,
you will face a very long U-turn
to get back on the correct route.
It adds 20-30 minutes to your journey.

Stay on the main road past the Ulwe exit and follow signs for Panvel. From Panvel you can reach the entire Navi Mumbai network easily.

Speed Rules — Read This Before You Drive

Minimum speed: 100 km/h

This is not a suggestion. This is a rule enforced by cameras across the entire bridge.

Speed limit: 100 km/h maximum
Minimum speed: 40 km/h

Camera enforcement: Active throughout
Fines: Issued automatically via FASTag
       linked to your vehicle number

IMPORTANT:
→ If you drive BELOW 40 km/h — fine
→ If you drive ABOVE 100 km/h — fine
→ Drive at 100 km/h and you will
  cross 21.8 km in approximately
  10 minutes — perfect

At exactly 100 km/h, the 21.8 km crossing takes approximately 10 minutes. The bridge is straight, wide and well-maintained — driving at 100 is comfortable and relaxed. There is no reason to go slower or faster.

Driving Tips — From Someone Who Has Used It

1. Set cruise control or watch your speed The open bridge environment with no visual reference points makes it easy to unknowingly creep above 100. Speed cameras are active. Set your car’s speed limiter if available.

2. Stay in your lane The bridge has 6 lanes — 3 in each direction. Choose your lane early and stay in it. Lane changes are allowed but the open bridge surface can feel windier than normal roads.

3. FASTag is non-negotiable Cash queues at the toll plaza can be surprisingly long during peak hours. FASTag gets you through in seconds. If your FASTag is inactive or low on balance — top it up before you travel.

4. No stopping anywhere on the bridge Stopping on the bridge is strictly prohibited. If you have a breakdown, hazard lights on and call the emergency number. Patrol vehicles are active.

5. Two-wheelers are not permitted on Atal Setu. Four-wheelers can use the bridge 24 hours.

6. Wind on the bridge The open sea bridge can be windy, particularly during pre-monsoon and monsoon season. Keep both hands on the wheel and maintain steady speed.

How Long Does It Take?

The bridge itself:
→ 21.8 km at 100 km/h =
  approximately 10 minutes
(this is the actual experience —
   not theoretical)

→ Before Atal Setu: 90-120 minutes
→ After Atal Setu: 30-35 minutes

→ Before Atal Setu: 75-90 minutes
→ After Atal Setu: 25-30 minutes
